Ronke Oshodi: Actress Debunk “Can’t Cook If Am The Bread Winner” Comment


Nollywood actress Ronke Oshodi Oke has debunked the comment making the rounds on the internet about not having to cook when she’s the bread winner.

Despite saying that “It is not going to work” if the wife is contributing more money than the husband and is still expected to cook and be humble, Mrs Ronke Oshodi took to her Instagram page to address her fan on the matter. According to Ronke, her words were misinterpreted because the Broadway TV only posted a part of her interview.

The broad casting station had asked her views on celebrity marriage breakups and her stand on trend.

In her own words during an interview with the TV, Ronke Oshodi said:

“It is not going to work, I can’t cook for my husband if I’m the breadwinner. And I can’t be humble if I contribute.

“But if you’re a man who contributes everything in the family, that’s when your wife will totally submit to you.”

As the interview goes viral specifically for the controversial comment, Ronke Oshodi gave an emotion filled speech, via her IG page to tell Nigerians and fans that such was a jovial comment in the middle of a chat with the TV station. Her Instagram posts says it all:

Ronke Oshodi Oke is Nollywood actress,  musician, director and producer from Ondo State. Born in July 17 the 43-year old star began her acting career with a drama group called Star Parade under the leadership of Fadeyi.

She became a household name in the year 2000 when she featured in a movie titled Oshodi Oke, from whence she got her stage name.

Ronke Oshodi also launched a career in music in 2014 and so far has released a single titled Ori Mi which featured 9ice.


The pretty actress has play major roles in several Yoruba movies such as Succubus (2014); Isan Laye, Eesu, Agbere Oju, Return of Jenifa, Abeke Aleko, Abeke Eleko 2, Ajiloda, Aimasiko eda (2006), Okun Ife 2 (2004), Okun Ife (2004), Asiri (2002), Oshodi Oke (2000).

This isn’t the first time Ronke Oshodi grant interviews, but let’s hope it won’t be the last time considering the devastating state it has left her.

One of her last interview before this was in 2016 when she narrated how she survived a road accident that left her in an unconscious state. According to her not only was her car badly smashed in, other vehicles behind were also affected.

Fortunately, there was no serious injury.
