How Old Is Mr Macaroni?

Mr Macaroni is 30 years old. He was born on May 3, 1993, in Lagos State, Nigeria, as the ninth child in a family of ten. His father is a journalist and a performer, while his mother is an educationist. Not much is known about Debo’s siblings, but we know of his brother Ismail Adebayo who is also an actor and skit maker as well.

Debo grew up in a simple Muslim and Christian home. He started his primary education at Tendercare International Nursery school, which is located in Ojota, Ogudu, Lagos State. He then moved to Babcock University Secondary school for his secondary education.

For his tertiary education, Adebayo attended three different Universities before finally graduating from Redeemer’s University. Giving reasons for changing schools, Adebayo said his first admission was to study law in a private institution. Still, he left the institution when he discovered that the law department of the institution wasn’t accredited.

Debo gained admission into another private institution to study law. Still, an issue he had with one of his lectures led to his suspension, and he decided to leave the school for another private institution. The third university Mr Macaroni attended offered him admission to study Creative Arts, but he left after a year when he was told that the institution hadn’t really started offering Creative Arts. The dean of studies then urged him to study English instead, but he turned down the offer.

Mr Macaroni eventually gained admission to study Creative Arts at Redeemer’s University, Osun State. While at the university, he was the president of the student body, but he got expelled a few days before his graduation for making a post on Facebook that the institution considered offensive and portraying the university in a bad light – an act that is punishable by expulsion. The case was later settled out of court, and he got his certificate from the institution in 2018. He also completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 2020.

Mr Macaroni Started off as an Actor

Mr Macaroni’s love for creative arts could be traced to his childhood and partly inspired by his father, who was a performer. During his University years, he got into acting, and he appeared in both English and Yoruba-speaking films. He also played small roles in soaps, including a popular comedy television series, Face2Face

Taking advantage of the new trend of Skitmaking in Nigeria, Debo began skit-making in 2019 and made his first skit in June 2019. Although his venture into comedy-making wasn’t planned, Mr Macaroni was inspired by skits from the likes of Broda Shaggi and Maraji and embraced that industry wholeheartedly..

He began playing the character of an elderly school teacher, and from there, he played other roles that led to his rise to fame. Mr Macaroni’s big break can however be attributed to his skit with Seyi Law in 2020. The skit, which had the two comedians fighting over a lady, generated millions of views moments after its release on social media. Mr Macaroni has since produced and released tons of skits on his social media platforms, including his eponymous youtube platform which has thousands of subscribers.

How Debo Created the Mr Macaroni Brand

The skit-making industry has become the fastest-growing industry in Nigeria’s entertainment space, and carving a niche for onesself could be challenging for up-and-coming skit-makers. Fortunately, Debo was able to scale through that huddle with the creation of his name brand ‘Mr Macaroni’.

Talking about how he came by his name, Mr Macaroni has revealed that he got his name while playing a minor role in the ‘Face2Face’ TV series. The director asked him to give his character a name, and he chose Mr Macaroni because his character was a jolly good fellow. The name struck along the way and it has not only helped him make a striking entrance into the fast-rising industry but also helped him carve a niche for himself in the industry.

Using his new name Mr Macaroni has released quite a number of positively-rated movies, including his popular Mr Macaroni series, which has seen him work with notable actors and comedians like Jim Iyke, Jide Kosoko, Kevin Ikediuba, Juliet Ibrahim, Yvonne Jegede, among many others. Debo started skit-making, playing the character of an old school teacher before the ‘sugar daddy’ character that he is currently playing. He said he chose the sugar daddy role he currently plays because it represents a percentage of men who cannot control their sexual urges.
