He was however born in the ancient city of Benin, Edo state, on September 25th, 1979, to Chief Eddie and Margaret Ugbomah who at the time were civil servants living in Benin. Not much is known about Bovi’s family but we know that he has both older and younger siblings including Albert Akogo and Zino.

Bovi’s early days were spent in Edo state but for his education, he shuffled between his home state and the state of his birth. He first attended UNIBEN staff schools for his primary education after which he attended three secondary schools including one at Ughelli North in Delta State and Boys Model Secondary School, Onicha-Olona. Upon completing his secondary education, he then gained admission to study Theatre Arts at Delta State University, Abraka where he bagged his university degree.

He Started his Career as an Actor in 1998

Growing up in a family that loves and accommodates variety in terms of career choice, Bovi had a hitch-free ride into the entertainment world with strong support from his parents. Though the path to success was quite rough, he made it anyway, and today his entire family is apparently grateful for the decision he made years back.

Bovi’s love for acting pushed him into studying dramatic arts and after graduation, he worked hard to create a niche for himself in the entertainment industry. It is, however, important to note that Bovi first worked for two years before deciding to pursue his passion for acting. He started his career as a reporter at NTA Lokoja during his one-year National Youth Service. He also worked as a personal assistant to leading actor and former commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Richard Mofe-Damijo.

Bovi’s association with the likes of RMD may have helped in preparing him for the big launch into the entertainment industry. It, however, took him close to a decade before tapping into his acting talent. His first project was a hit sitcom ‘Extended Family’ which was released in September 2006 and featured him as the main character.

Nigeria’s foremost comedy show franchise, Night of a thousand Laughs, which was organized by Opa Williams, was the golden opportunity Bovi needed to launch himself to the world as a comedian. The comedy special became Nigeria’s biggest as it came at a time when there weren’t many comedy shows that were taking place on a regular basis. The show also featured top comedians and entertainers in the country.

While debuting with the aforementioned franchise, Bovi also got the chance to work with his colleague and friend in the industry, Basketmouth, on his own shows such as Uncensored (2015), and Lord of the Ribs (2019).

In 2014, he began the second edition of his show which featured international superstars like Ja Rule and Ashanti. He took the one-man special event to several cities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Brisbane, Sydney,  and Toronto.

2014 down to 2017 marked one of Bovi’s major years following the return of the Man on Fire franchise to Lagos and as expected it was the most successful yet. He broke further boundaries with the launch of a third and fourth edition of the show in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
