Cristiano Ronaldo and Pepe returned to Real Madrid on Wednesday to complete the European champions’ squad as they prepare to kick off their La Liga match in 10 days’ time.
The Real Madrid stars enjoyed a period of extended leave to recover from their international exertions in winning Euro 2016 last month.
It had been feared that Portuguese captain, Ronaldo, stretchered off during the final win over France with knee ligament damage, could have missed the start of the domestic season.
But the 31-year-old, seem stronger and has shown up for training alongside defender, as they begin preparations for the opening La Liga game against Real Sociedad on Aug. 21.
Both players who were allowed to miss Tuesday night’s UEFA Super Cup win over Sevilla are back at the club’s Valdebebas while their team-mates took the day off.
The duo took part in a short indoor session before heading outside for some running while also spending some time in the Valdebebas gym.
Manager Zinedine Zidane oversaw the sessions, resuming work just hours after the Super Cup celebrations in Trondheim, Norway.
Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos and Martin Odegaard were also at Real’s headquarters on the outskirts of Madrid as they work up their fitness for the new season.
Last season was indeed a memorable year for Ronaldo , as he also netted the winning penalty in the team’s shootout victory over Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final.

Cristiano Ronaldo who made it to the top 3 on the award list, is number one on the list with Gareth Bale and Antoine Griezmann taking the second and third positions respectively.
The winner will be announced on August 25, the day of the draw for the Champions League group stage.
