President Muhammadu Buhari is accused of nursing a ‘grand plan’ to islamise Nigeria, this time, the allegation is coming from Dr. Samuel Uche, Prelate of Methodist Church of Nigeria.
But reacting quickly to the claim, Malam Garba Shehu, the President’s Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity waved it off saying that the prelate is entitled to his opinion and that there is no plan to islamise the country.
Nevertheless, the Prelate, not satisfied with the words of the presidency forewarned the government that any such arrangements will be vehemently opposed by the the Christian community. He said this while speaking on Sunday at Iffe in Ijumu Local Government area of Kogi State during the enthronement of Rt. Rev. Jacob Ibikunle as the Bishop of Okun Diocese, Vanguard reports.
Dr. Uche also revealed that the incessant attacks of the Fulani heredsmen on different communities in diverse parts of the country was part of Buhari’s plan to carry out his plot hence, the perceived ‘cold silence’ of his administration to address the the mass destruction of lives and properties of people.
“We are closely watching this government because we are aware there is a game plan to islamise Nigeria, and they are using the Fulani herdsmen to initiate it before they fully launch it out. But I tell you there is going to be serious resistance from Christians. If they think they can use the Fulanis to exterminate us, then they have failed. Look at what is happening in Benue State and all over Nigeria, the herdsmen will just invade a community and wipe out every living creature there before they set the place ablaze. In fact, the issue of Fulani herdsmen is now worse than Boko Haram.”
Samuel Uche noted that the activities of the heredsmen are most outstanding in the Buhari-led administration adding that Christians cannot remain silent in the face of the endless killings.
”The issue of insecurity is so alarming and growing worst every day, innocent people and even men of God are being kidnapped at will on daily basis and ransom collected with little or no challenge from anywhere.”
“They have started subtle moves to make Nigeria an Islamic nation, but God will stop them. This was done in 1984, it failed, it would fail again.”
