The newly appointed Ag. Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered the removal of mobile police aides attached to any individual or company as security officers.
The Police boss gave the directive at the passing out parade of 59 squadron commanders combat Operation Course Os/2016, held at the Police Mobile Force Training College, Forest Camp, Ila Orangun,Osun state.
Mr. Ibrahim Idris said the police mobile force was the striking arm of the police and should not be used as a security aide for individuals while stressing that the police will take the directive seriously.
The Acting IGP reiterated that as Commander of the operational arm of the force, it is of uttermost importance that he displays a high sense of professionalism by ensuring that his personnel are appropriately deployed to authorised persons only.
Mr. Idris admonished policemen and officers especially those in the Mobile Unit to rise up and nip Nigeria’s security challenges in the bud.
Speaking to press men after the event, the Acting IGP said he was ready to work towards bringing an end to the persistent clash between farmers and herdsmen across Nigeria.
Equipped with the required training the 59 Squadron Commanders are set to give in their best at the various command to ensure that law and order is maintained.
This was his first official assignment since his announcement as the Acting IG.
The ceremony is coming after three weeks of intense Combat Operative Seminar and Training. The Squadron members, selected from across the country, are now set to proceed to their various duty posts.
The host, Governor Rauf Aregbesola, who was also at the ceremony, called for improved police-public relations to gain the confidence of the people.
