Lanre Gentry, a businessman, and father to Mercy’s son alleged that the actress is mentally unstable, and a serial cheater who also does not cater for her aged parents.
In his interview, Lanre said he has papers to back his statement about her mental status and his wife is holding on to that claim, challenging him to provide the documents.
He also swore that he has never beaten Mercy in their seven years of marriage despite the fact that he has caught her several times with different men.
In an open letter addressed to him, Mercy denied all his accusations, saying it breaks her heart that she has to call him out because she can’t understand how a man she loved will want to destroy her with lies.
Mercy Aigbe wrote:

Meanwhile, Lanre Gentry will appear in court today, Friday 5th May following a case of physical assault brought against him by the Lagos State Department of Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, DSVRT.
Recall that an alleged fight between the couple led to Mercy’s bleeding, a situation which informed her decision to storm the office of the Lagos State Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Commissioner, Mrs. Lola Akande, on Tuesday, to report the matter.
On her part, Coordinator of DSVRT, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, said a restraining order obtained against Gentry prevents him from getting close to his wife until further notice, assuring that government would pursue the case to a logical conclusion.
