Road Safety warns commercial drivers to avoid night journeys.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Saturday called on commercial drivers to avoid night journeys.
The FRSC urged them to plan their journeys ahead and refrain from traveling at night to avoid accidents.
Zonal Commander in charge of FRSC Zone 9, Mr. Samuel Obayemi, gave the advice in Enugu.
Mr. Obayemi gave the warning while speaking at an ember month sensitization programme for commercial drivers.
He noted that night journeys were often subjected to the threats posed by armed robbery attacks, tyre burst as well as difficulty in attending to mechanical faults.
“Our people, especially commercial drivers, should plan their journeys by leaving on time in order to arrive safely at their destinations on time.
“If, peradventure nightfall meets you; you find somewhere to pass the night and continue the next day.
“It is better to be late by observing all good driving habits, which includes not driving at night, than to be declared dead.’’
Mr. Obayemi also further advised commercial drivers to always buy good tyres.
