It wasn’t a very pleasant weekend in Ndubia Inyimaegu community in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, following reports of the death of one Jacinta, who was allegedly beaten to death by her husband, James Uguru, over adultery.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ebonyi State Police command, George Okafor, confirmed the incident, saying the deceased (Jacinta) was beaten to death by her husband, James Uguru, over claims that she is involved in extra marital affairs.
According to report by Vanguard, the trouble began when the couple were discussing in the sitting room and suddenly a phone started ringing in their bedroom. As the husband made to get the phone, his wife held his waist, preventing him from moving.
As he was being prevented from entering the bedroom, the wife’s alleged lover ran out from their bedroom. His wife’s insistence that he should not chase after the man made him vent his anger on her and began punching her. The woman eventually collapsed and was rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead.
The husband of the deceased, Mr. James Uguru, is said to be based in Lagos and comes back from time to time to visit his family. He was said to have become suspicious of the wife’s alleged promiscuity following rumours making the rounds on the matter in the community whenever he visits home to see his family.
The police spokesman, George Okafor, said the suspect has been arrested and efforts were being made to also arrest the said lover boy.
Some few years back the village of Mbubea witnessed a similar case when an itinerant hunter, by name Thomas Atumar, allegedly shot his wife and himself dead after he came back from his hunting expedition in the middle of the night to find his wife having sex with a youth in the village.
