DPR Seals Off 6 Petrol Stations In Ogun For Selling PMS Above N86.50

The Department of Petroleum Resources and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on Thursday shut off six petrol stations in Ogun State for selling petrol more than the pump price stipulated by government which is N86.50 and also for stowing away fuel.

The names of the  said fuel stations that were sealed are Amour Petroleum, Saquad Oil, Rab Engineering, Arolat, SAF petroleum and Muyad Nigeria Ltd.

The public relations officer of the civil defence corps, Kareem Olanrewaju, stated that the exercise was prompted out of tip-offs and expressions of anger by members of the public. Kareem further told journalists that the fuel stations will remain sealed unless they decide to sell the endorsed price.

Mr. Olanrewaju also revealed that the team went to a minimum of 15 filling stations, before they sealed the six filling station while two stations were compelled to dispense freely to motorists and residents. He urged the stations to do what is necessary in line with the orders of the authority or forget sales for the time being.

In the words of Mr. Olanrewaju

It is not only NSCDC that is in it; we are out with the DPR and that gives us the full hammer in accordance with the authority given by the federal government to come out and act together,” .

The NSCDC spokesman added that the exercise would not end in Abeokuta metropolis as they will soon storm other parts of the country too.

According to the spokesman:

They should be wary of this exercise and do the needful. It is either they sell at normal price or risk their filling stations being sealed or their product dispensed freely.

We will move to other parts of the state soon but it won’t be made public; we’ll just go there unexpectedly as we did today,”.
