Cristiano Ronaldo’s £15 million private jet has crashed in Barcelona after landing gear broke away on impact. Eyewitnesses report that the plane’s landing gear broke on impact with the runway, forcing emergency services into action.
One of the runways was reportedly closed for a short time after the incident, in which nobody was hurt but the pilot was attended to for very minor injuries.
The jet’s undercarriage was said to have been scratched and damaged.
Fortunately, Ronaldo, his family or friends were not on the private jet at the time of the incidence. Sources close to the Ballon d’Or favourite told reporters that the plane is normally rented by companies and it was in use by one of them.
As at the time of the accident which happened on Monday, 31-year-old was with his Madrid teammates in Germany preparing for the Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund.
The Real Madrid Star helped put a smile on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s son’s face after the Borussia Dortmund striker swapped shirts in the 2-2 draw against Real Madrid.
Aubameyang has reached out to Ronaldo on Instagram with a picture of his son gleaming from ear to ear and holding the grass-stained No.7 shirt.
The 27-year-old wrote in the caption: “Cristiano, you’ve made my son happy.”
Meanwhile, there have been rumours of a dispute between the forward and Madrid boss, Zinedine Zidane after he was hauled off in the second half of the group stage stalemate.
Despite an unusually quiet start to the season,Cristiano Ronaldo is still expected to romp home and lift the Ballon d’Or trophy for the world’s best player in December.
That would see Ron collect the coveted crown for a fourth time – just once fewer than Barcelona superstar and long-time rival, Lionel Messi.
