Hurray! Chuka Udeze Weds Chidimma Obiejesi…
The real act of marriage is said to take place in the heart, not in the ballroom or church. Marriage is a choice you make not just on your wedding day, but over and over again and that choice is reflected in the way you treat your husband or wife.
The month of February has been amazing, it is truly a month of Love. It all started on the 18th of February, the destination was to Mr. Godwin Okechukwu Obiejesi’s compound in Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra State.
On this day, Engineer Chuka Obiora Udeze, the Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Alexander Moore Partners Limited (the umbrella company of BuzzNigeria, BuzzGhana, BuzzSouthAfrica, AnswersAfrica and many others) was on a mission to storm the town of Okija and leave with nothing else but his bride (Pharm. Chidimma Adaobi Obiejesi).
No one needed to be told something special was about to happen, the sight of the groomsmen all dressed in well starched and ironed Senators, well-polished shoes, the traditional blue cap and a unique blue scarf would tell you this was no ordinary occasion.
The Traditional Marriage
The groom and the groomsmen arrived at Okija during the early hours of the afternoon, shortly after their arrival, the wedding ceremony was fit to commence.
Extra tents had to be put up, the catering team were getting the nose teasing banquet together, various local treats such as garden eggs were passed around, drinks were available to a greedy man’s satisfaction and finally the kola nut had to be broken as a sign of respect to the groom’s family.
Coming from Rivers State, this was my first time attending an Igbo traditional marriage. The rich culture and protocols involved were interesting to note. The bride was stunning, and her bridesmaids were equally out to impress.
The bride and her bridesmaids performed a number of dancing around the compound, but one thing that got my attention was the overwhelming smile of the bride throughout the event.
With so much that could go wrong, financial commitment and stress that could sometimes get involved in a marriage ceremony, it is almost impossible to stay calm; but Engineer Chuka was calm and ready to dance with his bride at every opportunity he got during the ceremony.
The White Wedding
Normally the time between a traditional wedding and a white wedding is usually spaced out, in some cases over a period of months, but that was not the case here. With no time to waste, the white wedding took place the weekend after the traditional wedding.
Friends and family were all invited to meet at The Chapel of Pentecost Anglican Church, Neuropsychiatric Hospital, New Haven, Enugu.
The union was amazing, pictures were taken and the reception at Nondon International Hotel, New Haven Enugu was next on the flow of events. The setup of the reception was mind blowing, the MC took charge of the event and the newest couple in town had the spotlight all day. It was a very successful wedding filled with lovely memories and smiles.
We wish the new family of Engineer and Mrs. Chuka Udeze a prosperous one ahead.
