Prof. Yemi Osinbajo celebrated his 60th birthday on Wednesday, March 8, with many Nigerians extending their goodwill messages to Nigeria’s Acting President.
Celebrating his deputy, President Buhari who is currently on an extended medical vacation in the United Kingdom described Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, as a running mate, who later turned out as a friend. On his Twitter handle, Buhari congratulated the professor saying;
“Sixty hearty cheers for @ProfOsinbajo, running mate turned partner in service to Nigeria; and friend. Happy Birthday, Professor!”
Similarly, the President’s wife, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, took to her Facebook page to congratulate Osinbajo. She wrote:
“On the occasion of the birthday of Your Excellency, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo SAN, Ag. President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to extend my congratulations to you and to state that the years you have spent building your reputation in multiple capacities have today resulted in your ability to carry out your duties in line with the manifesto of the All Progressives Congress to ensure that a better Nigeria is realised.
“Congratulations and Happy Birthday Prof.”
Also felicitating with the Acting President, Senate President Bukola Saraki, in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Yusuph Olaniyonu, congratulated Osinbajo on his birthday, wishing him good health, wisdom and enduring grace to serve the nation and humanity. In his words;
“On behalf of all members of the 8th Senate of the Federal Republic, I wish our Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, a happy birthday as he turns 60 today.
“We pray to Almighty God to continue to give you good health, great wisdom and enduring grace to serve the nation, in particular, and humanity, in general, for many more years.”
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, also extolled Osinbajo in his congratulatory message, saying the pastor cum public administrator had left no one in doubt as to his capacity to handle matters of national interest, development, and progress, since his emergence as the vice president and chairman of the country’s economic council. The Speaker said;
“You have brought your vast knowledge, experience and worthy ideals to bear in the discharge of the functions of your high political office as Vice President and number two citizen of the country.
“It is therefore no surprise that you have been able to continue leading the country on the path of economic recovery and growth through constructive engagement and partnership with relevant stakeholders even in the temporary absence of Mr. President.
“While wishing Your Excellency a happy birthday celebration, I pray God Almighty to continue to keep you in good health and bless you with many more years of robust service to Nigeria.”
Meanwhile, the celebrant while speaking in a brief interview after cutting his birthday cake with ministers at the end of the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council at the Presidential Villa, said he was happy and fulfilled on his 60th birthday.
Osinbajo attributed his new age and other favours from God to what he called ‘the work of grace’. He also expressed appreciation to God for giving him the grace to serve the country. Hear him;

“It is worth thanking God that one is 60 and one is in good health and that one is able to serve one’s country. I am happy and fulfilled. I am thankful to God.”
