Boko Haram On Rampage: More Bombing Leave Scores Dead In Borno


More bombs rocks Borno State as a report from our correspondent say more than 10 persons have lost their lives in a latest deadly attack by Boko Haram terrorists.

The bomb explosions reportedly ripped the city on Tuesday night, precisely at Molai Kura, along Maiduguri, Damboa, Biu road in Borno State. According to the Daily Post, some eye witnesses residing in the area confirmed that the explosion was heard at the aforementioned location and 21 others were also injured.

Many people are said to have fled their homes amid the chaos, though there has not been any official report on the incident, BuzzNigeria gathered that multiple explosions were detonated at different time intervals.

While one of the locals identified as Bukar Alhaji Modu who assisted in the evacuation of both the dead and the injured told newsmen that three female suicide bombers and a male involved in the suicide attacks on residents of Molai area.

Another source from the state specialist hospital where the victims were taken said some of the casualties brought in were sent to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital due to lack of equipment as their case was beyond what they could handle.

A nurse who spoke to journalist said:

“I don’t know how many that died but some human parts are at the morgue. It is so sad. I learnt some of the victims opened their door to one of the suicide bombers, who knock on their door, thinking it was a neighbour.”

The Borno Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Victor Isuku confirmed that the state police Commissioner, Mr. Damian Chukwa was proceeding to the area for on the spot assessment of the situation.

It was earlier reported that many attempts of Boko Haram to infiltrate the city have been thwarted by the tight army security.

A recent statement released by the Nigerian army recount severe efforts to suppress insurgent in the northeast region. Col Timothy Antigha, who is the deputy director, public relations of 8 task force, he announced there was a gun battle between soldiers and the terrorist on Tuesday, July 11.

According to him, the terrorists were ambushed by soldiers in an area bordering the Lake Chad were they were regrouping.

In his words Col. Antigha said:

“In continuation of ongoing efforts to rout Boko Haram terrorists in its area of responsibility, troops of 7 Brigade Special Forces, 8 Task Force Division have dislodged terrorists who have been gathering in Dawashi Gari village, in an area bordering the Lake Chad. 

“In an engagement this morning, gallant soldiers of the division killed 4 terrorists, while others fled, abandoning their motorcycles, which were recovered and destroyed, to prevent their being used to perpetrate terror on innocent villagers. 

“Similarly, as part of the theater-wide and ongoing clearance operations, troops of 145 Bn, 5 Brigade, 8 Task Force Division have cleared Gashigar, Asaga, Bukarti and neighbouring villages. In the process, troops made contact with terrorists in Kanama village and killed 2 terrorists, arrested 2 more, while 1 AK 47 riffle, 4 magazines and 4 motorcycles were recovered.”
