American R & B Superstar, Alicia Keys will be making history next Saturday in European football.
The award-winning singer, songwriter, record producer and actress, Alicia Keys, will open the stage at the UEFA Champions League final opening ceremony on Sunday 28th May 2016 at Inter Milan’s San Siro Stadium.
This is the first time in UEFA Champions League history a singer would be headlining and performing at the finals. Tickets to the event were sold out in just 14 days, with tickets selling for between €70 (₦ 16,000) and €440 (₦ 98,500).
European Football governing body, UEFA has confirmed that Keys – who has sold over 50 million albums worldwide – will feature as part of a revamped ceremony prior to the finals game on Saturday 28 May.
The singer, who expressed her excitement in a statement, said,
“I’m extremely excited to share my new music at the UEFA Champions League final, an event that is celebrated in every corner of the world.”
“This is going to be a powerful moment in history and one that represents the spirit of all the similarities we share no matter where we live and who we are. I’m honoured to be a special part of such a beloved experience.”

The match will be broadcast in more than 220 countries and reach an estimated global live audience of 180 million viewers, making it the most-watched annual sporting event in the world.
This years Champions League finals would see nine-time champions and title favorites, Real Madrid, lock horns with city rivals Atletico Madrid.
This will be the second time in three consecutive years that the UEFA Champions League final will have a strong Madrid flavour as Real Madrid face Atlético.
Both teams played the finals two years ago in Lisbon, with Madrid beating Club Atlético Madrid 4-1 in extra time.
