President Muhammadu Buhari was recently on a two-day visit to Kano where he was accorded an impressive reception by people of the state.
While in Kano, the President disclosed that the overwhelming reception accorded him by Kano people was a clear message to the opposition in the country.
Speaking at an interactive session with community leaders held at Coronation House in Kano, Buhari expressed his satisfaction with the massive reception he was given. He appreciated the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II for the horse parade for him at the palace, and reiterated that the reception was an affirmation that Kano State remains his stronghold.
During his drive around the city to inaugurate projects, President Buhari observed that many of those who thronged the streets to welcome him were young people who tried to get a glimpse of him.
But popular comedian Alibaba has explained why Buhari was received by such an overwhelming crowd comprised mainly of youths in Northern Nigeria’s most populous state. In an Instagram post, Alibaba posted a photo from Buhari’s Kano visit and wrote:
“If 80% of these people were gainfully employed they will not be on the road welcoming Buhari. And it’s not about PMB. Because these are backlogs of unemployed and unemployable citizens for over 20 years and counting.
“These are the types that will cast votes for you for an exchange of a 5kg bag of rice. Why? Because they are down to their last hope.
“I tell many people. A citizen who gets good primary education will be triggered to get secondary education. At worst they will do better at Vocational schools. But once there is no foundational education, as basic as A is for Apple and 1+1=2 and all elementary teachings, the brain is locked out of the growth process. Because that basic education is what all other things are built on.”

“Let’s begin to educate the child. The educated child will understand policies. The educated child will become a good citizen. The educated child will grow up to contribute to the Nigerian economy. What do I know Sef? Shebi I am just a comedian?
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Youth Caucus has said the rousing reception President Buhari enjoyed in Kano clearly shows that nobody can corrupt the minds of Nigerians about the agenda of his administration.
