Miss Abel Edna is in the news again for all the right reasons! Edna, a student of the Niger Delta University caused a huge stir on the internet last week when stories emerged of how she combines her education with cooking and selling food to her fellow students in order to be financially independent.
This time, the student of Animal Science has got people singing her praise again after she gave away over 200 plates of food to primary school pupils at Toru-Ebeni in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa state in a program she themed: “Feed The Children Program”.
Reporting the success of the exercise in a Facebook post, Edna said “Feed The Children Program Was A Blast”.
She went on to appreciate a host of volunteers who worked with her to make the program a success, particularly Engr. Michael Tarerefa, a Philanthropist, who first shared her story online through Facebook. Michael and his family as it was learnt also provided logistics for the program.
Speaking to journalist after the exercise, Miss Abel Edna said she feels fulfilled. “I feel very happy, I feel fulfilled, I feel so complete right now”.
When asked what her next move would be she said: “this is just the beginning”.
In a Facebook post by Mr. Michael Tarerefa, he also described the programe as ‘a huge success’, saying:
About a fortnight ago, I shared the amazing story of the beautiful and hardworking Abel Edna SeniorCindy and also announced that my family will be partnering with her in providing lunch for about 200 primary school children in Toru-Ebeni Community of Sagbama LGA, Bayelsa State, Nigeria.
We are glad that the programme was a huge success and very grateful to our wonderful team of volunteers. Three primary schools were visited and the impact you guys have created in the minds of those children is unbelivable. It will remain indelible in their memory.
This is not the first time Edna has given free meals to pupils. It could be recalled that sometime in 2016, Edna and her team embarked on the same mission on “WORLD FOOD DAY”.
On the 13th of January 2016, Edna while speaking to Rhythm 94.7 Yenagoa, said she resolved to gain financial freedom when one of her Uncles who she met for assistance made sexual advances towards her.
