Members of Women Concern Group in Lagos are protesting against the harassment by Dino Melaye. They are protesting against the alleged verbal assault on Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the senator representing Lagos central, by Senator Dino Melaye, during an executive session within the Senate chamber on Tuesday, July 12.
The women are singing solidarity songs as they march on the streets carrying a banner with the inscription ‘No to abuse, no to Dino Melaye’. According to several of the protesters, they are demanding that the Kogi Senator apologises to Tinubu and everyone he offended with his untamed comments.
Some of the women who spoke during the demonstration expressed their displeasure over the verbal assault, saying that all they want is for men to show some respect to the womenfolk. The first woman said:
“We are protesting because Dino Melaye has messed with the women-folk. He should respect us because we are all mothers. We are not happy with his acts. They should try to respect women because we are the mother of the nation.”
The second quickly added:
“Not only Dino, we are talking to men, all men. They should respect us. We are mothers and we are their wives, we are the mother of their children. So there has to be respect for us.”

The lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial district, Senator Dino Melaye, was alleged to have verbally assaulted his colleague, Senator Oluremi Tinubu by allegedly threatening to ‘impregnate’ and beat her up as they engaged in a verbal fight.
Although Senator Melaye confirmed his reported clash with Oluremi Tinubu, he however, denied using some words reported by the media. He said:
“It is falacious, malicious and a lie that I said I will impregnate Mrs. Tinubu. Biologically, it is even impossible to impregnate Mrs. Tinubu because she has arrived menopause.
“If you also look at that statement for those of us who are intellectually mobile, how can you say you want to beat somebody and at the same time you want to impregnate the person? If you juxtapose the two is there any correlation, does it make any logical sense?”
He claimed that Senator Tinubu attacked him first by calling him a dog and a thug even when he never used any insolent words towards her.
