Tottenham Hotspur are at the verge of signing Southampton’s midfielder, Victor Wanyama for £11 million. The move would reunite Wanyama with his former Saints boss, Mauricio Pochettino. Tottenham boss, Mauricio Pochettino is a huge admirer of Wanyama, having worked with him during his time in charge of Southampton.
The 24-year old Kenyan is poised to undergo a medical with the White Hart Lane club. Tottenham have held a long-term interest in the Kenya international and tried to sign him last summer, but Southampton were able to keep hold of him. The Saints were hoping to tie down Wanyama to a new deal, with the player entering the final year of his contract.

However, with the midfielder rejecting offers of a new deal, they have reluctantly agreed to cash in rather than risk letting him run down his contract. Thus, if he agrees with the personal terms and passes his medical successfully, he will become the first Southampton player to be reunited with Pochettino since his arrival at White Hart Lane in 2014.
Wanyama would also become Tottenham’s first signing of the summer as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for next season’s Premier League title and competing in the Champions League. Pochettino is eager to boost his options in midfield with Tottenham hoping to balance Champions League football with another title challenge next season.
He is also eager to bring an extra forward to provide cover for Harry Kane but Spurs are yet to follow up talks with AZ Alkmaar striker, Vincent Janssen.
The young star moved to Europe from Kenya to join Helsingborg of Sweden in 2007 and later signed for Celtic from Belgian club Germinal Beerschot for an undisclosed fee in July 2011. He has so far made 85 league appearances for Saints, scoring four times.
Wanyama was believed to be on the radar of Manchester United who are looking to signing a midfielder with strong attacking and defensive qualities.
