Sportswear giants, Nike have honoured Cristiano Ronaldo with a pair of new limited edition CR7 boots for his superb achievements in winning the 2016 Ballon d’Or.

The Portuguese claimed his fourth Ballon d’Or prize on Monday, after he helped Real Madrid win their 11th Champions League crown earlier this year before going to France and scoring three goals to steer Portugal to the European Championship trophy – the first in the nation’s history.

To commemorate the 31-year-old’s achievements, Nike has paid tribute to CR7 by announcing the release of 777 pairs of limited-edition Mercurial Superfly CR7 boots.

In the release, Nike said:

“The “Vitórias” boot upper and its signature speed ribs feature a stylish Pure Platinum upper with a subtle blue metallic shine and an elegant fade from heel to toe.

“The Metallic Gold plate is a nod to the gold trophies Ronaldo won this year and the heel graphic reads ‘Vitórias’, Portuguese for victories.”

Only 777 pairs of the boots will be made by Nike, which will be available to buy via nike.com and selected retailers in early 2017.

Real Madrid superstar, Ronaldo, who is now one Ballon d’Or title behind Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, has been honoured by Nike, while his Real teammates have presented him with a cake in the shape of the Ballon d’Or to celebrate his fourth crown.

Speaking of his fourth Ballon d’Or win, Ronaldo, who is currently in Japan preparing for the FIFA Club World Cup said:

“In my head, I have always considered myself to be different from the others. So, I believed that I could be the best player in the world.

“But a trophy of this magnitude is dependent on multiple factors. I could not have been certain of anything, because it did not entirely depend on me. I thought that I could win it once, not four times.”
