Iheanacho Takes Super Eagles Of Nigeria To Victory In France


Manchester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, has taken the Super Eagles of Nigeria to victory with his lone goal against neighbours Mali.

The Super Eagles defeated Mali 1-0 in an international friendly game played this evening in France.

The 19-year-old City forward struck in the 77th minute of the encounter, played at the Stade Robert Dichon in France, leading his team to victory. It was his first ever goal for the Super Eagles since joining the team.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria edged their Malian counterparts in the friendly, in which Iheanacho’s lone strike in the second half was the ultimate decider.

The goal also gave the player spectacular accolades from his club as a Tweet was posted on Manchester City’s official Twitter page congratulating the 19-year-old.

Most of the regular faces in the Super Eagles were missing in the encounter as some were allowed to feature at the Joseph Yobo Testimonial which took place earlier today in Port Harcourt.

The international friendly was aimed at preparing the three-time African champions for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, which begins in October this year.

The Nigerian contingent will now depart France for Luxembourg for another international friendly against the Luxembourg national team on Tuesday, May 31.

The match will be played at the Josy Barthel Stadium in Luxembourg.

In other developing news, Jose Mourinho – in his first interview as Manchester United Coach – has said he isn’t interested in remembering what has happened at Old Traford in the last 3 years under David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal despite the former lifting the prestigious FA Cup at Wembley, choosing rather to align himself with legendary Manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
