Dream Team VI Lose 2-0 To Germany In Semi-finals


It is a sad night for football lovers in Nigeria as the Dream Team VI lose to Germany in the semi-final game at the Rio Olympics.

Nigeria’s U-23 team have lost their chance to win gold in this year’s Olympic games after a sad 2-0 defeat to Germany.

Germany worked their way to a gold medal match against Brazil with a 2-0 win over Nigeria at the Arena Corinthians, Sao Paulo, Wednesday night.

The Dream Team were outclassed and effectively frustrated throughout the game by the Germans.

Despite efforts by team captain, Mikel Obi, the Dream Team could not find the back of the net in 90 minutes.


Germany opened the score sheet with a goal in the 9th minute from defender, Lukas Klostermann.

The unrelenting Germans sealed their victory and the Dream Team’s fate by scoring again in the 89th minute.

Dream Team Vi Lose To Germany

Germany’s Nils Petersen’s 89th-minute goal surely dashed the Dream Team’s hopes of playing for gold in the finals.

Nigerian football fans were however impressed by a stellar performance by Mikel.

The team captain even put up a stunning goal attempt during the game.

The Germans did play better, more coordinated football on the night, defeating coach Samson Siasia’s boys.

With this loss, Nigeria will now have to settle for a bronze medal match on Saturday against Honduras.

Germany will play Brasil for the gold medal at the finals game on Saturday.

Coach Samson Siasia ad his Dream Team VI had hoped to repeat the feat of the Atlanta 1996 Dream Team winning Gold in Rio.

Although the team had been through very challenging and frustrating moments, right from their training camp up until they arrived Rio, Brazil.
