Here Comes The Change: President Buhari Disposes Of His Jets

Sequel to the launch of the national re-orientation campaign tagged ‘Change Begins With Me’ which took place yesterday, Thursday, September 8, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Nigerians called on Buhari to set the ball rolling by reducing the cost of governance, first, by cutting down on the number of presidential jets.

A Nigerian blogger and public speaker, Japheth Omojuwa, said: “Change begins with selling the presidential jets. ONLY a genuinely rich country should think of having up to 3. We have about 10 jets.”

As Nigerians aired their views on the launched programme, some took to Twitter to urge the government to begin the change from the Presidency. See some of the comments below:

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari made a promise to Nigerians a year ago, to reduce the cost of governance by selling a part of his presidential jets.

Therefore, in fulfillment that promise, the presidential media aide, Garba Shehu, as a follow-up on the ‘Change Begins With Me’ launch, announced on Thursday evening, that President Buhari has issued an order  for the reduction of the number of jets in his fleet.

He wrote on Twitter:

“There is a government committee already in place, working to reduce the number of aircraft in the presidential fleet.

“Some aircraft will be boarded, some others returned to the Air Force for operations. The Change is here.

“There is hope for Nigeria, a hope that was previously clouded by corruption, greed and lack of focus”.

Change has begun with President Buhari.
