As a response to the recently leaked video of money laundering by the CEO of Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation (OOF), Ms. Anne Welsh, Buzznigeria can confirm she has been relieved permanently of her duties at the Foundation. This news is coming within 24-hours after the video of her plans to launder millions of dollars through the Foundation in the name of ‘charity’ was first seen on SaharaReporters.
The video revealed that she, in collaboration with Lebanese businessmen were planning to use the Foundation’s Ebola relief activities as a front to launder funds, which is to the tune of $4.9 million. The transaction was also to be carried out with the help of a Nigerian bank and was supposed to enrich the fired CEO with no less than $900,000, which would be her “cut” for helping the businessmen with a smooth process.
Presently, the matter has been reported to the UK Charity Commission and the UK Police. The sacked CEO has already been replaced by Franklyn Lisk, who is now the CEO of the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation (OOF).
According to Mr. Obasanjo;
“We have asked the two authorities to investigate the matter exhaustively. The CEO of the Foundation at that time was Franklin Lisk. I can never associate myself with anything that has to do with money laundering and corruption, and this is a very disturbing development for us all.
“The foundation partners with change agents, policy makers, global partners and visionary individuals worldwide to tackle critical problems through the initiatives of leadership, of food and nutrition, girls education, youth empowerment and employment and health for non-communicable diseases,” the former president concluded.
