Following the statement of the First Lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari, that some unknown cabinet members are taking over the affairs of the country, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State has moved to sack some commissioners in his cabinet.
President, Muhammadu Buhari doesn’t seem to be bothered by calls to replace the ineffective cabinet with some goal-driven ones, even after his wife urged him to do so.
However, Gov. Ambode is in sync with the ‘change’ mantra to get the job done by removing 3 commissioners that are undeserving of the office.
One year after their appointments, commissioners for Tourism, Folorunsho Folarin-Coker; Finance, Mustapha Akinkunmi; and Transportation, Ekundayo Mobereola have been relieved of their duties, as the secretary to the State Government, Tunji Bello, made the announcement on Wednesday, October 19.
No reason was stated for the sudden change, however, Mr. Tunji said the governor simply appointed other people to take over the job.
The Special Adviser, Arts and Culture was directed to take over as the Acting Commissioner for Ministry of Tourism and Culture; Special Adviser on Transportation will take over as Acting Commissioner for Transportation; while the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance will take over as the Acting Commissioner for Finance pending the appointment of new commissioners in the respective ministries.
Meanwhile, Aisha Buhari has made her first comment after her husband made his controversial statement about her belonging to his Kitchen . . . and the other places.
While Nigerians expected her to give her reply that might lead to another back and forth banter, she decided to wait till it was necessary for her to speak.
“Heading to Brussels to attend a forum where I will be giving the opening remark on “Women’s Role in Global Security,” Aisha tweeted two days ago.
She made the statement with a picture of herself in a beautiful N1.2m multi-colour cape attire. Seems like she has joined other world leading women to make an impact in the world.
