At 63, Nollywood Veteran Actor, Alex Usifo Bags Phd


One of Nollywood’s veteran actors, Alex Usifo has topped up his academic qualifications by bagging a PhD from Babcock Universityon Sunday, June 5, at the age of 63.

Alex Usifo, is obviously not just a prolific actor, but is also very passionate about academics. He studied Mass Communication and Philosophy at the University of Lagos before proceeding for a masters degree at Babcock University.

He is also a graduate of Ambrose Alli University. Now at age 63, Alex, Usifo has successfully bagged a PhD.

Since venturing into acting in 1984, the actor has played major roles on TV and stage plays, helping to improve consistency and growth in the Nigerian movie industry.

Featuring in over 50 movies, Alex gained popularity for his role as the terrifying Chief Odiete in the shortlived TV series “Beyond Our Dreams” which used to air on NTA back in the 90’s.

Alex Usifo is famous for playing the role characters of some of Nollywood’s most unforgettable villains, most notably his role in the classic Silent Night, starring Ramsey Nouah and Segun Arinze. His deep voice and commanding on-screen presence made him perfect for these roles.

With over three decades of experience in the industry, the actor and producer remains one of Nollywood’s key figures.

He is also known for his roles in movies like: “Strong Men at Work” and “The Guilty 2”, and in hit TV series including Ripples, The Return Of The Natives and Heaven’s Gate.

Jide Kosoko was among the six Nollywood actors and actresses who were beneficiaries of the 32 cars gifted out by Prophet Joshua Iginla, to commemorate his birthday.
