Paul Okoye Met Anita Isama At the University of Abuja in 2004

Paul and Anita first met in 2004 at the University of Abuja, where they studied for their degree certification. Anita was 16, a fresher who just got admitted into the law department, while Peter was 23 and a final year student of the Business Administration department. They coincidentally bumped into each other at a mutual friend’s residence, where Paul was supposed to meet another female friend he had a crush on.

Paul, on getting to the initially proposed venue for their meet-up, the girl he was meeting up with had not arrived. He then put a call through to her, and she proposed they met at a different venue, her friend’s place. It was at the new meet-up point that Paul and Anita first saw each other. Developing a spontaneous love for her, the singer pushed to get Anita’s mobile phone number. After much resistance, she finally gave in just before they went their separate ways that day. They soon became friends, and in 2006, they started dating. Anita was 18, and Paul was 25 at the time.

Paul Proposed to Anita Eight Years Later

Paul’s flair for light-skinned girls first attracted him to Anita, while Anita agreed to be blown away by the singer’s humility, kindness, and reserved nature. After meeting and knowing each other, their compatibility became clearer to them. Paul, who was ready to settle down in marriage, saw Anita as that woman who would compliment him.

When asked to describe Paul’s marriage proposal, Anita termed it romantic, surprising, and unexpected. Paul proposed to Anita at a jewelry store. He took Anita to test out rings and pick one she likes. On choosing the one she preferred, Paul went down on one knee and asked that she marry him.

Anita was shocked and the only feeling she could let out at the time was tears of joy. Before getting married, the couple dated for 8 years but have known each other for 10 years before the big day.

Anita was the Singer’s First Love

Paul and his brother were at the prime of their music career as of 2004 when he met Anita, and it is only natural for one to think of him as the ladies’ man. Shocking as this may sound, the singer’s revelation on the matter was quite the opposite. According to Paul, Anita was the first and only woman he had ever loved. Not just that, he was also not rich. He gives credit to Anita for doing so much for him during their school years.

The bride was dressed in the Igbo traditional attire, wearing a gold-embroidered blouse, gold wrapper, red heels, traditional coral beads speckled with gold, and a red scarf (locally called Ichafu or Gele) for her second outfit.
