Her mother, Yinka Filani, known as Iya Pupa, was born on 4 April 1950 in Ado-Ekiti but has lived most of her life in Ife, Ibadan.
Although little is known of her siblings, her then-25 year old younger brother who goes by the name Olatunbosun Oluwatosin Filani was allegedly murdered in 2010 by some Policemen in Eleweran/Obantoko Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Kayode Emmanuel Oduoye aka Superkay is Mosun Filani’s husband. He is a politician, businessman, and legal practitioner who was born on 6 October 1970. Kayode hails from Osun State in the South-West region of Nigeria, but grew up in Lagos State where he still lives to date.
His academic journey took himto the Government College, Ibadan, for his secondary education. He finished from there in 1988 after which he moved on to study Law (LLB) at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, from where he graduated in 1996.
