However, the couple separated in October of the following year and began proceedings for divorce, but it was not until February 2021 that the marriage was officially dissolved by the High Court.
At first, in 2019, the Federal High Court sitting in Ikeja dismissed their divorce petition, holding that the grounds for the petition were “invalid.” The Judge further advised the parties to “go home and work on their differences.” But on January 28, 2021, the Abuja High Court granted the long-sought decree for dissolution of the marriage, making the divorce official. Lilian has been silent on reasons for the divorce; however, she stated that she has remained good friends with her ex-husband. Ubi, on the other hand, said that the marriage had been “shaky from the start.”
They both have a son named Jayden Ekapong, born in 2016. Although they jointly provide for him, Lilian has custody of the child. Once, there were speculations that the actress was in a relationship with Super Eagles player, Kenneth Omeruo. She, however, cleared the air, describing their relationship as “cordial.”
