Alexx rose to become one of the favorite faces in the Nigerian movie industry. Alexx has a wonderful family because he has been captured numerous times, saying that family is everything, and so they are the best gift life has given him. He is the second child in a family of four, in the ratio of two boys to two girls. His mother, Jane Ekubo, is a professional fashion designer and businesswoman, whereas his father, Mazi Alex Ekubo, is an oil marketer.

Alexx was born in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, but he is a native of Arochukwu in Abia State, Nigeria. In pursuit of his education; from nursery/primary, secondary and tertiary mad made him tour around four states in different geographic locations of Nigeria. They are Lagos, Kaduna, Port Harcourt, and Calabar respectively. He got started with his nursery and primary school at K.Kotun Nursery and Primary School, Lagos State. Following his graduation, he enrolled into Federal Government College, Daura, Katsina State, for his secondary education. He later enrolled at the University of Calabar, where he studied law and also obtained a diploma in mass communication from Calabar Polytechnic in 2008.

The Actor Is Always Mistaken To Be From The South-South

Alexx is from Southeast Nigeria, precisely Arochukwu, Abia State. He’s a descendant of Igbo ethnic ancestry. To most Nigerians, the actor is from Port Harcourt, Rivers state. This is because he was born in the city and lived there for most of his formative years.

Furthermore, his name “Ekubo” doesn’t really sound like a typical Igbo surname. His ascent, intonation, and even friends, and the major company he keeps made people think that way. His dress code most times resembles those from the South-South part of Nigeria, where the city of Port Harcourt is located.

Sometime in 2017, he got the award from his hometown – Arochukwu Kingdom – for his ” exemplary professional contribution to the Aro Kingdom & being a beacon of hope to the Aro youth.” As at the time he received the award, Alex was the youngest person ever to have received the award. In a Facebook post, he made after receiving the award, the talented actor used the opportunity to clarify his ethnicity and state of origin. He even mentioned that some people take him to be an African-American and this is all part of the misinformation going around about where he is from.

Be that as it may, Alex expressed his delight for being specially honored with the award. He added that it is a family tradition of “service to the community” which had been passed on from his late grandfather to his late father and now to himself.

Before Acting, Alexx Ekubo Was A Law Student 

Alexx wasn’t really known to the public before coming into the entertainment industry. As an undergraduate, and a law student at that the University of Calabar, he was more focused on his studies and wasn’t really into any engagement outside his academics. Towards the tail end of his first-degree program in 2008, he gradually started discovering himself as an actor, and opportunities to carve a niche in his acting career started coming.

The genesis of his career started when he was an undergraduate; he was partially involved in Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen’s film titled “Sinner in the House,” where he played a minor role. Emerging as the 2010 first runner-up of the popular Mr. Nigerian contest also helped expose him to a wider audience which is a big advantage to a young, emerging face on the screen.

Many years after he first featured in a movie, his major role came in “Ladies Men” where he perfectly brought his character to life. This made him become a popular face on TV, and thus marked his rise to fame in the industry. He followed up his first main role with other high-class movies, where he played the principal role as a major character.
