Shaffy Kicked off Her Career As a Singer
iShaffy Bello’s first debut in the entertainment scene began with her featuring in a popular 1997 hit song by Seyi Sodimu titled “Love me Jeje, love me tender“. Seyi Sodimu is a Nigerian-born music artist who also relocated to the United States to further his education. While in school, he wrote the song “Love Me Jeje, Love Me Tender” which became the hit song in his debut album “Born in Afrika” in 1998.
Although not much is known about Seyi and Shaffy’s relationship, it is said that Seyi Sodimu is her nephew. Their collaboration on the hit song became key to the album’s success, particularly in the Nigerian music field. The album was released under Shakara Entertainment, topped the charts in Nigeria on Ray Power 100 FM, and sold over 30,000 copies in the first weeks of its release. The album also earned Seyi nominations and Piawards in Nigeria.
However, many people were unaware that Shaffy was the lady who took the chorus; her voice, exquisite appearance, and elegance in the song’s music video were outstanding.
