Born Adekunle Adeyanju, Kunle is a native of Kwara State in Nigeria. He was born in Offa, Kwara State, South-Western Nigeria. His administrative experience at the time included working in four core Northern states of Nigeria: Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, and Kastina. Later, in 2004, he began studying oil and gas. 

He first held a leadership position in the marketing department at Oando Gas and Power, where he oversaw the creation and growth of the Greater Lagos Industrial Area Natural Gas Pipeline Network. In 2006, he began working for Shell Petroleum and remained there for the next three years.

Kunle also worked at Fuels and Bitumen, where he served as the manager, supervising various positions within the company. He eventually founded his own private company named the Pelicans DNO, where he serves as CEO, after gaining significant experience in the oil and gas industry. 

Kunle is also a professional biker and this fuels his nomadic lifestyle. He has cycled between Ghana and Lagos. In Cancun, he has also been exposed to the vibrant cultures of the Japanese, South Koreans, and Mexicans.

Kunle Adeyanju has also traveled to places like Qatar, Marrakech, Uganda, Poland, Rome, and Jerusalem, among others. He has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro twice and in June 2022, he was reported to have motorcycled from London to Lagos. His journey of 41 days saw him cycle 13,000 kilometers (8,080 miles) through 11 countries and 31 cities. 

He claims that the only reason he leads an adventurous lifestyle is because of his fascination for the natural world and the people who once lived there. In addition to motorcycling, Kunle enjoys engaging in extreme sports like skydiving, mountain climbing, and bungee jumping.

Adekunle Adeyanju is known for biking in the desert, chilly climate, and breathtaking wooded scenery. He reached the top of Kilimanjaro, which rises 19,341 feet above sea level, making history as the first Nigerian to raise the flag at Africa the summit of Africa’s highest mountain.

He revealed that the excursion required him to spend seven days, five days ascending and two days descending. He described the days as “grueling”, stating that he hiked almost non-stop for about 9 hours every day for 7 days. He cycled from London to Lagos in April 2021 to eradicate polio in Africa. In Africa, this disease is a well-known epidemic. Children that contract the polio virus are infamously paralyzed. The journey, which covered a distance of over 13,000 kilometers, lasted nearly 25 days. 

He said that he rode his bike to the furthest reaches of the planet to raise money for local issues and to raise awareness for the worldwide “End Polio Now” campaign. Polio has continued to remain a threat in Africa despite being eradicated in 2020, and Kunle was inspired by the loss of his childhood friend who had passed away from the disease many years ago. 

On May 29, 2022, a cheering crowd gathered to welcome him at the border between Nigeria and the Benin Republic before he was led to Lagos city. In addition to being an explorer, Kunle is also a blogger. He writes for his blog known as The Pelicans. This means that when Kunle Adeyanju is not out in the world exploring, he is sitting in his chair writing or blogging.
