Despite getting pregnant and having her first baby at age 17, Charina never hesitated to support her daughter’s career efforts. Speaking in an interview session in February 2023, the female rapper referred to her mum as a “baddie” who knows it all. Strong and confident were how she described Charina. Talking further, Ice Spice credits her mum for making her the woman she has become today; she said this in a Billboard interview in October 2022.

She described how she (her mothe) would always strive to look good, make her nails, and stuff like that. During her days in school, Spice said she was seen as the chap with a good-looking mother.

On her own part, Charina is her daughter’s biggest fan and has been documenting her music career since she was four. According to what the rapper told Billboard, her mother sent her a video she recorded of her singing at age four, which she doesn’t even remember and one notable fact is that Charina still has all those videos to date.

It was Joseph that inspired Ice Spice’s love for hip-hop. She said that when she was a toddler, her dad used to take her into the studio and she became a musician because she saw her father as one. Though she was very small then, what she witnessed made a lasting impression on her subconscious and that was it.

“My dad is a true music lover and a hip-hop-head,” Spice said. He would often freestyle in the house and Spice witnessed all these. Besides, Joseph educated his daughter on hip-hop, but according to the female rapper, she was already 19 when she heard her father’s music for the first time.
