Edo State postal codes are 6-digit numbers assigned to each district of the state. Generally, a postal code is a series of letters or digits or sometimes a combination of both with sometimes spaces or punctuation included in a postal address for the purpose of sorting mail. Postal codes used in one country vary from another, and Nigeria’s postal codes are made up of six-digit numbers distributed among the country’s various regions.

Nigeria’s postal codes are assigned by the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), categorizing the country into nine regions instead of the usual six geographical zones for effective delivery. Each of these regions is represented by the first number of postal codes. Combining the first, second, and third numbers produces the dispatch district, useful for mail sorting. Also, the last three numbers of the postal code represent the location for the delivery, which can be either a town, village, or any other place.
