Enugu postal codes are the numerical codes assigned to districts in the Coal City for easy delivery of mails and packages. The Nigerian postal codes consist of six digits which are assigned by the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST). NIPOST is the body in charge of the postal services in Nigeria, and they divided the country into nine groups. These groups are the first digit of the postal code. By this description, Enugu postal code belongs to the fourth group of the division, with the postal code 400001. Lagos is the first with the postal code 100001, while Abuja is in the ninth group with postal code 900001.

More so, the number of states or cities under a particular group is signified by the second digit of the code. Some large states have two codes depending on the city. That leads us to codes like 410001 FOR UNN, Enugu; 420001 for Anambra; 430001 for Onitsha; 440001 for Abia; 450001 for Aba; and 460001 for Imo. Then the last three digits represent a particular location within a district; also known as the delivery location.
