His family hails from Ogbomoso in Oyo State, South-West Nigeria. He, however, grew up in Bariga Lagos State.\u00a0As a child growing up, 9ice&#8217;s parents did not have it all, which led to different struggles. He initially did not have much of a good relationship with his father and terms what they had like a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellanaija.com\/2008\/07\/saturday-interviews-9ice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cat and dog relationship<\/a> until after his father learned to tolerate him.<\/p>\n<p>For formal education, he attended Abule Okuta Primary School and then CMS Grammar School Bariga for his secondary education. After that, he stayed home for more than four years because he couldn&#8217;t get admission to study at the University.\u00a0It was then that he explored other menial jobs, did many things like boxing, football, and writing. He was\u00a0a\u00a0big fan of <a href=\"https:\/\/buzznigeria.com\/pasumas-net-worth-and-the-luxury-houses-he-owns-at-his-age\/\">Pasuma Wonder<\/a>, which led him to venture into the Fuji music genre. He derives his inspiration from his environment and the likes of Ebenezer Obey, <a href=\"https:\/\/buzznigeria.com\/king-sunny-ade-biography-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">King Sunny Ad\u00e9<\/a>, Tatalo Alamu, Late Alhaji Ayinla Omowura, and also from Late Alhaji Haruna Ishola.<\/p>\n<p>After recording his first demo titled &#8220;Risi De Alagbaja&#8221; in 1996, 9ice joined a group called Mysterious Boys, with whom he made a couple of tracks before going on to form his now-defunct group called Abinibi. His first solo song, &#8220;Little Money,&#8221; which came four years later in 2000, gave him his first major break, as 9ice and his music started gaining recognition in the Nigerian music market. Not long after that, he collaborated with different Nigerian artists, which led to the release of another hit single titled Ganja Man.\u00a0Ganja Man, which was released with other songs in March 2006, was produced by Id Cabasa.<\/p>\n<p>9ice later found his own record company called Alapomeji Records, releasing all his other albums under the label. The hit song &#8220;Gongo Aso,&#8221; from his sophomore album also titled Gongo Aso, was released when he was 28 years old in 2008, and it ended up becoming a significant breakthrough for 9ice as it became a sort of national anthem song on almost every occasion in the country at the time.\u00a0The Gongo Aso song also led to his performing at the Nelson Mandela 90th Birthday Tribute Concert in London, which won him Best Hip Hop Artist of the Year in 2009 and 4 awards at the Hip Hop World Awards.<\/p>\n<p>Other tracks from the album include &#8220;Street Credibility,&#8221; &#8220;Party Rider,&#8221; &#8220;Pamurogo,&#8221; and &#8220;Photocopy,&#8221; among others.
