Infinix launched the Infinix Zero 3 at the Silverbird Cinemas, Ikeja Lagos, in 2015 and it’s a packed monster of a smartphone, featuring Android 5.1 operating system, 20.7MP Sony Camera, 5.5 inch HD screen with corning Gorilla Glass, 3030mAh battery, and 2.2 GHz Octa core processor, among others.

The Infinix Zero 3 comes in the line of the Infinix Zero lines with more potential than Zero 2 from which it takes over. Not to get things all mixed, the former was a great phone that had a good run, but the present is much better as you should expect.

One of the first things we observed with the phone is that it is designed to meet almost every need, as such there are more features strapped to its back more than most other phones of the same class. As a result of this, you will not be wrong to place it as one of the phones that consumes much power.

Although at the end of the day it is not the end of the world in the phone sense, it is the start of something really interesting in the mid-range phones.

Here is a review of the Infinix Zero 3:

Build Quality and Design

One can hardly help not to fall in love with this phone (most especially the gold colour) considering the looks.

It is a well-built phone that should be durable which is sleek and lighter than you will think. That said, it is not too light to get it very boring.

It comes with a stainless steel casing, the Infinix Zero 3 has a 5.5 inch IPS display which has a 1080 x 1920 resolution full HD Screen. More than that, it has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection to keep it from scratching.

The placement of the buttons are the same with most others; the volume and power buttons are on the right side, while the 3.5mm earphone jack is at the top and the charging port is at the bottom.

Looking at the multimedia capabilities of the Infinix Zero 3, this delivers what is the best as regards multimedia, and it is able to play various audio and video file types.

With 4G LTE internet connectivity, there is a promise of fast internet connectivity which even surpasses what you get in most parts of Africa since many parts are yet to get the 4G network. In addition to this, it supports dual micro sim cards.

Finally, whether you want a black, silver, or gold coloured phone, the Zero 3 should have you covered as it comes in all three.

Sound Quality

There was a time when we were beginning to completely lose hope when it comes to the sound quality of phones. They sometimes get too loud and distorted in such a way that without good earphones you may even hate your best music.

Now with phones such as the Zero 3, the trust is coming back. It works very good for music, video, and even calls. The final take here is that it is a hit with both speaker and earphones, except of course if the headphones are bad.

Camera

"Infinix

The best thing about this phone definitely has to be its camera. To be honest, it is one of the best there is out there, even among much bigger phones that ask for up to a hundred thousand.

It is featured with a SONY IMX230 CMOS sensor to accompany the 20MP back camera which should be the life of the party for those who never get tired of snapping and recording videos.

4K videos are among the best videos you can get, and trust me, there are many cameras that cannot achieve having that. The Infinix Zero 3 can shoot 4k videos. To be clear about that, there are still people that doubt the possibility of that, but we have found it to do just that.

The camera is also fashioned with HDR, voice and touch capture, gesture shot, and slow motion. More so, it has LED light just as the front camera which comes with 5MP. This means that it is great for selfie if you put it in a competition against many others that only give 2MP of front camera.

Memory and Storage

3GB RAM is what the phone is powered by while the storage has 2 choices; either 16 GB or 32 GB. No matter which you get to go with, you can decide to have it expanded using a MicroSD slot that takes up to 64 GB card.

If you put this in perspective, you will realize that the phone attempts to touch the skies with speed, multitasking, and overall functionality.

Processor and Software

The operating system upon which the phone is run is the Android 5.1 Lollipop with Infinix XUI. Placing the XUI beside the EMUI and MiUI, you will find the interface is much better.

As regards the processor used, Infinix made use of a 2.0GHz octa-core processor plus. What is more is that it is powered by an Helio X10 chipset. This is an overkill for the phone because you can hardly get that from others in the same line.

Battery

Packed with 3030 mAh battery, we feel that a phone of this nature could have done much better. A phone with abundant features and functionalities like Infinix Zero 3 should be able to do amazing things if there are sufficient power saving options. Because this does not come with that, we will only score it average as regards that.

The consolation with the battery is that it is designed to get fully charged within a short time. Also, with upgrades of the phone’s firmware, there are some features that are promising a better battery life.

For a heavy user, the phone may be able to get you up to 6 hours 15 minutes, and way more, if you do not fall in the class of heavy users.
