Obudu Mountain Resort, formerly known as Obudu Cattle Ranch, is a tourist and adventurous center located in Cross River State, the Northeastern part of Nigeria, close to the borders of Cameroon. The resort has a perfect green environment with beautifully placed mountains that project an ideal view of the country-sides. Over the years, it has served as a major tourist center for visitors in Nigeria and Nigerians.<\/p>\n
Its soothing environment serves tourists with charming landscape and a calm aura with nature displayed at its best. The temperate weather makes it very cool for visitors from around the world. Its rooms are modified into chalets, standard rooms, executive rooms, huts, to presidential suites to fit into any class of tourists. It is open to visitors every time of the year, but it’s best to visit in February and October because mountain climbing is easier in these times.<\/p>\n
Obudu Cattle Ranch, currently known as Obudu Mountain resort, was established by a Scottish rancher, M. McCaughey, in 1951. In 1949, the rancher started scouting the mountain ranches and set his camp at the Oshie Ridge on Sankwala Mountains, located at Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State.<\/p>\n
After exploring the mountain for about a month, he returned with co-ranchers Mr. Huge Jones and Dr. Crawfield in 1951. The three developed the ranch collectively, and now, it is well known as a Nigerian resort and relaxation place. The Cross River State Government has also renovated the ranch to meet the standards of tourists who visit every year.<\/p>\n
