Emmanuel had been a member of the Socialist party since his youthful days but started renewing his subscription in 2006. Then, he worked for the Citizen and Republican Movement but never applied to be a member. He also served as an assistant for Mayor Georges Sarre of the 11th arrondissement of Paris during his tenure at Sciences Po.<\/p>\n

In 2007, he attempted to run for a seat in the National Assembly under the Socialist Party label, but his application was rejected.
