Lagos Police Command’s headquarters on Thursday paraded a yet-to-be named woman who was arrested for allegedly hiring assassins to eliminate her husband.
The suspect was paraded at the State Police Command Headquarters, alongside 25 suspected criminals arrested by the command in two weeks.
The Lagos state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, who paraded the suspects said they were intercepted in different locations within the state.
Owoseni said that the woman was arrested after the suspected assassin who had been arrested, named her as the person who contracted him to kill her husband.
“One of the hired assassins has confessed to the crime and we are currently on the trail of the other assassins. The woman was picked up after a suspect was arrested and he named her as the person who contracted him to kill her husband.
“He said that the woman paid him N600,000 to eliminate her husband.”
He said the suspect and the woman would be charged to the court soon.
Another suspected assassin was also arrested at the Maza Maza area of the state where he went to kill a lady.
Owoseni said eight other armed robbery suspects, including a police sergeant were arrested for robbing some Chinese nationals.
He also added that five suspected armed robbers who had shot and killed a presenter with Lagos Televison, LTV 8, Olusegun Abiodun, were arrested.
The presenter was killed on August 7, after he was dispossessed of his belongings by the hoodlums, adding that operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) had been on the trail of the armed robbers until luck ran out on them.
