Will Nigeria ever regain a state of zero percent corruption? Just as its citizen wonder the possibility of that, Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, laments on the corruption level of the nation. Prof. Soyinka says the current anti-corruption fight by the Federal Government has revealed an unprecedented level of corruption that has never been recorded in the history of the country.
He made this statement during a courtesy visit at his Lagos home by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed.

“We have not had a case where it had been alleged and increasingly proven that money supposed to be spent on defending ourselves, our nation, our neighbourhood, has been shared among individuals. We never had experience where we were in a state of critical emergency where children are being kidnapped under our noses.
“Never had there been a situation where we are helpless and our soldiers are sent to the front to defend our very existence and we are not backing them up with conduct that shows integrity and commitment. Because of these reasons, corruption is really desperate and has chosen to fight back, but I am confident that corruption will be tackled,” Soyinka says, consoling his fellow Nigerians.”
Meanwhile, Rivers State Government under the administration of Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, accused the former governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi, for lavishing N82m on hosting the great literary Professor, Wole Soyinka, at a dinner in Port-Harcourt. However, ex-governor Ameachi denied openly that he never spent such an outrageous amount to host a dinner for the Nobel Laureate. Rotimi Amaechi also gave a warning to Governor Wike and the alliance of court-jesters and attention-seekers to stop telling lies and concentrate in making his administration one that the state will appreciate and benefit from.
