Valentine Gift To Nigerians – President Buhari To Return Any Moment From Today!
In an interview with the Channels Television in Abuja on Tuesday, 14th, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President of Nigeria, Garba Shehu, assured Nigerians that president Mohammadu Buhari would be returning to Nigeria soonest as he is no longer comfortable with the extended vacation in London.
Although Garba did not give specific time and day of Buhari’s arrival, he said Nigerians should get ready to receive their President.
“Get ready to see President Buhari any moment from today. As a matter of fact, we should be getting ready to see the president in flesh and that will be soon as possible. The President (himself) is looking to being home to be with his people. I don’t think he is enjoying any longer with an extended vacation outside the country.”
This news might just be the best Valentine gift to most Nigerians who have long-awaited the arrival of Mr. President.
Recall that in late January (19th), Buhari left Nigeria for London on a vacation that would also cater to his health needs. He was meant to resume his duties on the 6th of February, however, postponed his return indefinitely, throwing the country into a state of fear and agitation.
Meanwhile, on Monday, the US president, Donald Trump held a phone conversation with President Buhari, a move Shehu described as ‘undiplomatic,’ as there has been so many requests for the release of the audio containing the conversation.
According to the presidential Special assistant, releasing an audio containing telephone conversation between two presidents is highly unethical and against modern-day civilization.
“No, I don’t think so; I don’t think it is permitted in international diplomacy. I think if we had recorded Mr. Trump in this conversation it would have offended our diplomatic relations. I think the Americans themselves would not have recorded this conversation of president to president.”
With regards to the medical results of Buhari, Shehu expressed his uncertainty as to whether the results are out and has been disclosed to Mr. president. He also calmed the rising number of people interested in knowing the content of Trump and Buhari’s phone conversation, stating that the two presidents didn’t have enough time to discuss other continental and international issues.
However, he expressed optimism that the conversation would boost the bilateral relations between Nigeria and the United State.
While in the UK, President Buhari has also been holding court with prominent Nigerians, such as APC leaders, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Bisi Akande, Governor Ibikunle Amosun and Senator Daisy Danjuma.
Also, political leaders, such as Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara, who had not visited Buhari in London have also engaged him on phone. Hopefully, Buhari will be back soon just like Garbu has promised.
