Her Mother was Involved in The Murder of Her Father<\/strong><\/h2>\n
Alessandra’s mum was very bitter about her divorce from Gucci, and although she lost the legal rights to use his name, she continued using it. What enraged her even more was that by 1995, her former husband was already set to get married to a woman he knew since his childhood, Paola Franchi.<\/p>\n
More than just the jealousy she had towards the new woman in the life of Gucci, Reggiani knew that if the marriage went ahead, her alimony was going to be substantially cut, and she would have another woman to contend with as Mrs. Gucci. Because of these, she contacted her close friend, Pina Auriemma, and the two women came up with a plan to do away with Maurizio.<\/p>\n
In order not to get too involved in the shady affair, Reggiani did not continue with the plans directly. Instead, it was her friend who hired a hitman with the assignment of taking out the then-Gucci boss. She brought in a hotel owner known as Ivano Savioni, who then dragged a man that was riddled with debt named Benedetto. His task was to either handle the job or bring someone who could do it, and so he brought in another man, Orazio Cicala, whose job was to serve as the getaway driver. For the task at hand, Regianni was said to have paid the men as much as 600 million lire which is said to be the equivalence of around $700,000 today.<\/p>\n
On March 27, 1995, the act was carried out, and Alessandra’s father was shot dead. She was 19 years old when her father was killed. Two years later, those involved in the deed were arrested, and to the shock of many, Regianni was also arrested for her involvement. She was found guilty and was sentenced to 29 years behind bars.
