Arvydas Sabonis is the father of Domantas Sabonis, the Lithuanian-American professional basketball player. He was <\/strong>born on 19th December 1964, and is a Lithuanian former professional basketball player and businessman.<\/strong><\/p>\n Domantas Sabonis, following in his father’s footsteps is a famous NBA star who plays for the Sacramento Kings and the Lithuanian national team. Many know him very well but only a few are familiar with his father\u2019s accomplishments in the NBA. Arvydas Sabonis was however a celebrated player in his own right. He played in the NBA for seven years before retiring.<\/p>\n Domantas’ father, Arvydas Sabonis was born in Kaunas, Lithuanian on the 19th of December 1964 making him 59 years old now. Arvydas has not revealed any details about his parents, siblings if any, or the kind of childhood he had. Similarly, information about his educational background is not publicly known.<\/p>\n Arvydas Sabonis started playing basketball at the age of 13 and by the time he was 15, he had joined the Soviet Union’s junior national team. Arvydas made his professional debut in 1981 with \u017dalgiris, one of the oldest basketball teams in Lithuania.<\/p>\n He found success playing for the \u017dalgiris club, winning three consecutive Soviet Premier League titles, and the 1986 FIBA Club World Cup (FIBA Intercontinental Cup). He left the club in 1989 and signed with F\u00f3rum Valladolid, a Spanish Liga ACB club. Arvydas helped the club to reach the Kora Cup semifinals in the 1991\u201392 season.<\/p>\n After three years with Valladolid, he signed with Real Madrid where he would win two Spanish League championships. Arvydas averaged 22.9 points, 2.4 assists, 12.5 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, and 1.6 steals while playing for Real Madrid in the 1994\u201395 Spanish League season.
