She is often seen attending Trae’s games and has been vocal about her pride in her son’s achievements. Despite being the mother of a celebrity, Candice has maintained a life outside of the limelight, but here, we unravel a lot about her.

Candice Dawn Young was born on 11th January 1979 in Lubbock, Texas. Her parents, Paul Lee and Vicki Nachtigall, were ministers at their local church. She is an African American by ethnicity and follows the Christian faith.

It’s safe to say that she grew up in a Christian household and has tried her best to pass that legacy to her children. Her family are committed members of the Family Victory Church in Norman, a city in Cleveland County, central Oklahoma, U.S. The church is a megachurch in Norman with five services each weekend, including one for Spanish speakers.

Candice Young grew up with her three siblings and brothers: Chandra, Charity, and Joshua. For high school, she attended Pampa High School and later went to Texas University.

Trae Young’s mother met her husband, Rayford Young, while they were both attending Texas Tech University in the late 1990s. Rayford was also a basketball player at the university, where he played for the men’s basketball team.

According to an interview with Candice in 2018, they met at a basketball game when Rayford was playing, and Candice was watching from the stands. She was immediately drawn to his skills on the court, and after the game, they started a conversation. They quickly realized that they had much in common, including a shared love of basketball, and began dating shortly thereafter.

Their relationship flourished as Ray continued to play basketball for Texas Tech, and they eventually got married on August 2nd, 2000, and started a family. Today, they are proud parents to five children named Trae, Catilyn, Camryn, and Timothy. Interestingly, young Timothy has also shown interest in basketball.

The love relationship that ensued between Rayford Young and Candice led to the birth of Trea. The couple found out about Candice’s pregnancy during Ray’s junior season. Soon afterward, the love birds tied the knot when they were 21 and 22, respectively.

On May 2, 1999, the couple welcomed their second child, Catilyn Young. She went to Texas Christian University in fort worth Texas where she completed her education.

Camryn Young is Trea’s second sister; she was born on September 11, 2002, in Hinsdale, Illinois.
