There weren\u2019t even foster homes available at that time, because there was such a glut of unwed children&#8221;. <\/em>Joni explained. So, to survive as well as continue with her education, she gave Kelly up for adoption.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Who Are Kelly&#8217;s Adoptive Parents?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Kelly Dale Anderson was adopted by a Toronto-based couple, David and Ida Gibb, who are retired school teachers living in Don Mills, a suburb of Toronto. Kelly&#8217;s adoptive parents renamed her Kilauren Gibb.<\/p>\n<p>Growing up in Don Mills, Kelly Anderson received a quality education in good private schools in the area. She attended The Bishop Strachan School and George Brown College for her elementary and high school education, respectively. After that, she proceeded to Harvard University in Boston and the University of Toronto, from where she earned her Bachelor&#8217;s and Master&#8217;s Degrees. However, the courses she studied were not disclosed.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>How Did Kelly Dale Anderson and Joni Mitchell Reunite?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Joni denies the allegation and criticisms that she gave her daughter up for adoption in order to pursue her musical career. In her words, &#8220;<em>There was no career&#8230; I was just a folk singer you know&#8230; I had a nice voice, I guess. I played okay you know, but there was no real gift&#8230;&#8221; <\/em>Also notable is that Joni Mitchell&#8217;s parents claimed that they did not have any idea of Joni&#8217;s pregnancy. They said they would have assisted her if they had known.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly Dale Anderson was unaware of who her birth parents were until she was 27. Also, the search would prove frustrating because she was only given scanty details about her original identity and nothing definite. Then, Kelly stumbled on the information and was able to piece their relationship together. Also, with the help of her medical and adoption records, she was able to make progress in the search.<\/p>\n<p>Joni Mitchell&#8217;s reunion with her daughter Kelly happened in 1997 in Los Angeles, and at that time, Kelly was 32 while her mother, Joni, was 54. The mother and daughter met for the first time in Joni&#8217;s kitchen. They hugged so passionately, and Joni Mitchell said, &#8220;<em>It feels like I had gone away on a trip for a couple of months and I was coming home<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Is Kelly Dale Anderson Married?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Kelly Anderson&#8217;s first relationship was with Edward Barrington. The two met in 1979, but after a while, they split and went their separate ways. Then, she met and dated Paul Kohler for two years, and they got married in 1992. Paul is a Toronto-based talent agent.
