Robert began acting as a child and rose to prominence for his roles in the 1967 film “Cold Blood” and the 1970s American TV series “Beretta”, for which he received numerous awards and accolades.

Following a splendid career in Hollywood,  Robert became a news item in 2001 when he was wrongfully accused of being involved in the murder of his second spouse, Bonny Lee Bakley, whom he started dating in 1999 and got married to in 2000. According to reports, their marriage was rocky, and they never lived together.

In Studio City, California’s Vitello’s Italian Restaurant, Robert Blake took Bakley for dinner on May 4, 2001. It was reported that Bakley was sitting in Blake’s car, parked outside the restaurant across the street when she was tragically shot in the head. The actor from Cold Blood was later arraigned by the police, who claimed he had a connection to the murder.

Blake refused to make a guilty plea, instead insisting that he had only returned to the restaurant to retrieve the gun he had left there and denying being present at the time of the incident. Police later discovered the revolver Blake claimed he had left in the eatery but later concluded that it was not the murder weapon.

Delinah Blake only caught media attention after her father was arrested for the alleged murder of her stepmother in 2002. Robert Blake was detained on April 18, 2002, after being accused of killing his wife. Earle Caldwell’s longtime security was also detained and accused of conspiracy concerning the homicide, with witnesses giving their own sides of the story.

Blake was later charged on April 22, 2002, with two counts of murder. He pleaded not guilty, and after spending a year in jail, he was released on bond on March 13, 2003, with a $1.5 million cap. After that, he was under house arrest while being tried.

While her father was in jail, Delinah Blake, who was 35 then, took guardianship of her baby sister Rose, who was just two years old. She fought a court battle with her stepmother’s relatives over who would emerge as the permanent custodian of her baby sister. Blake was tried for the murder of his spouse, Bonnie Lee Bakley, in 2004, with the prosecution building their case on Blake and Blakely’s shaky marriage and claiming he killed her to avoid the divorce process. He was acquitted in March 2005 after being found not guilty.

Even though he was free, Bonny’s three eldest children were spurred to get justice for their mother and filed a lawsuit alleging Robert Blake was responsible for their mother’s death. A jury found Blake liable and ordered him to pay them $ 30 million in November 2005. After appealing, he was ordered to pay $15 million to Bonny’s children. The court cases left him in debt, and he later filed for bankruptcy in 2006.
