John Baldwin is Michael Madison’s Father
Even though he denied being the father of Michael Madison at birth, John Baldwin is the publicly recognised father of the serial killer. Madison was conceived by accident and his mother decided to keep the pregnancy.
Baldwin was never a part of Madison’s life right from childhood and he is definitely not about to surface now, considering his son’s gory crime record and the fact that he is on death row.

Meet Michael Madison’s Mother, Diane Madison
Michael Madison is the only child of his mother, Diane Madison. His birth was not planned as it was an accidental pregnancy for the young woman at the time. Following her then partner’s refusal to acknowledge being the father of of Michael, Diane had to raise him by herself with help from relatives, including her mother who used to be a prostitute and drug junkie.
Diane Madison has been blamed for turning her son into a monster. She reportedly abused him as a child, a record he used in his defence during trial. Investigations carried out by experts showed that not only Diane but her numerous boyfriends who visited their home at the time alslo abused Michael and his half-brother. One of them beat him so badly with a leather belt that he started vomiting. Another boyfriend beat him so mercilessly he lost hearing in one of his ears.
Child and family services began visiting their home from when he was just two years old. The first time was when his mother force-fed him and while he vomitted, she beat him up and put him in a tub filled with hot water.
According to a social worker report shown in court, he suffered contusions, abrasions and swelling on the shaft of his penis and at a point, they had to take him away from his mother. However, it was his grandmother, a former prostitute and junkie, that took him in but he was later returned to his mother after putting her through counselling.
Three psychologists spoke to the jury on how Michael Madison’s troubled childhood may have contributed to the killing of three young women while his defense attorneys try to avert a death sentence. Even though he was too young to recollect the abuse he surffered as a child, psychologists believe the horror he had to live with can make him create an alternate world in his mind where he has control and power.
Again, the abuse he faced from his mother fueled his hatred toward women. This hatred made him cringe at any female authority and even told two of his former girlfriends that he “hates the female species.” All these were used as evidence in court as an attempt to avoid the death sentence.
“The evidence will show that Mike’s life was further influenced by a disturbed family tree, comprised of generations of physical abusers, sex abusers. Literally, a family tree of abuse,” Madison’s defense attorney, David Grant, told the jury.
Michael Madison’s Mother, Diane Madison, Was Murdered
Diane Madison was murdered in June 2019 but her son who is on death row for multiple murders is not responsible for this one. Diane was killed by her grandson, Jaylen Latrell Plummer, 18, who stabbed her multiple times on her bed. The incident took place at her Cleveland home where Michael was arrested in 2013.
After stabbing his grandmother for reasons yet unknown, Jalen turned on his siblings and cousin. In the process, his younger brother and younger sister, 12 and 10 at the time were wounded. He also attacked his 10-year-old cousin who equally survived the attack.
Plummer’s cousin happens to be Michael Madison’s daughter. Two of the children, the girls, were able to escape and called on neighbors for help. They later received treatment at Rainbow Babies and Children Hospital but their grandmother, Diane Madison, died from her injuries.
Upon arrival at the crime scene, the police found Plummer in his grandmother’s shower. He was covered in blood and didn’t resist arrest. The young man was charged with Diane Madison’s murder and three counts of attempted murder which he all pleaded guilty to. Plummer got the life sentence with the possibility of parole after serving 30 years.
Michael Madison Has One Half-brother
There might be more siblings from his father’s side but the only known sibling Michael Madison grew up with is a half-brother whose name is not disclosed. His mother probably had him after ending her relationship with John Baldwin. Both Madison and his half-brother suffered severe abuse at the hands of their mother and her numerous male lovers.
John Baldwin distanced himself from Diane right from the beginning and was never involved in raising the son they reportedly had together. As a result, nothing is known about his love life or if he later got married and had children.
