Susan was born into the family of Lillian Taggart Andrews and Reverend George E. Andrews II. With her father being a minister of the Word as an episcopal preacher, she was raised alongside her two siblings in a Christian family.

More so, she has always been in the academic environment as her father served in different Episcopal schools. Founder of the G.E. Andrews & Associates with the aim of assisting Episcopal schools in the United States, he was the Chaplain at University Liggett School, Grosse Pointe, Michigan from 1974 to 1984. From there, he moved to St. George’s School, Newport in Rhode Island where he served from 1984 to 1988 as its Headmaster.

Susan Andrews and her family were back in another academic environment in 1989 when her father was sent to Saint Andrew’s School, Boca Raton, Florida where he served as the Headmaster from 1989 to 2007 when he retired to the commendation of many. He revealed that he was taking a rest to spend more time with his family.

Although his many contributions to academia were significant, everything was almost marred for Susan’s father in the late 2000s when he was accused of failing to report sex abuse when he was in charge of St George’s school. This was even as he fired the person involved; a choirmaster.

Susan Andres and Tucker Carlson Met in High School

When Tucker was a young child growing up, he was described as a very lousy kid, something he was known for even while he was in school. In order to set him straight, his parents decided to send him from La Jolla where the family was, to a boarding school in Rhode Island. Interestingly, that was also the school where Susan was also attending at the time, and her father was the headmaster of the institution.

The young Tucker was rather boastful and an arrogant debater who would later become the head of the debating society of the school. Nonetheless, this did not stop him from finding love in the daughter of the school’s head whom he described as the cutest 10th grader in America. On her part, Susan described him as a very positive and optimistic individual, who had a bounce in his walk.

It is clear that it was where their love story started, but the circumstances in which their paths first crossed and how they became lovers were not revealed. When they first met, both Susan and Tucker were only 15 years old.

She Became Tucker Carlson’s Wife While They were in Their Early 20s

After they left school, Tucker moved to Hartford’s Trinity College from where he graduated in 1991 with a degree in History. A 22-year-old who had just graduated and was armed with a D-plus average and a dream of following in the footsteps of his father who became Voice of America’s director, having risen from being an anchor on local television in Los Angeles and San Diego, Carlson got married to Susan Andrews in the same year.

Tucker had already started planning to marry Susie while he was still in college and so six months before he was done with his education, he asked his former headmaster to allow him to marry his daughter and when permission was given, he went ahead to propose to her and she agreed. He revealed that even though it was very 19th Century for him to ask her father to marry her, it was still good.

Having dated since they were in high school, Susan Thomson Andrews and Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson walked down the aisle on August 10, 1991. The ceremony was held in the Chapel of St. George School in Newport. At the time when they got married, Carlson’s father was the Ambassador of the United States to the Seychelles Island.

The couple had their honeymoon in Bermuda and after that, they first settled in Washington, D.C. When she got married, Susan was working as a teacher in an Episcopal school. She continued this career path for a while before she was said to have stepped aside in order to dedicate her time to raising their kids as her husband has a very busy career life.

The Marriage of Susan and Tucker Saw Some Difficult Moments

The marriage of Susan and Tucker Carlson has become an example for many celebrities, having sustained more than 30 years. This has not been without many travails as along the line, rape accusations were leveled against the then golden boy of Fox News. The TV commentator was accused by a woman named Kimberley Carter of raping her, an accusation that could have easily ended both his career and marriage.

Carter claimed that Carlson molested her in a hamburger and pizza joint in Kentucky. Considering the seriousness of the allegations, the TV host was said to have sunk in $14,000 as legal bills while defending himself. Amidst all these, he decided not to sue so as not to get his name attached to the rape charge.

Later clearing the air on the allegations, Carter, who was suffering from schizoaffective disorder, made it clear that the entire thing was nothing short of a misunderstanding. She revealed that she told her attorney that she thought Carlson molested her. However because she was not very certain, she told him not to take any action until she knew for sure. Nonetheless, the attorney went ahead to write the TV host, making threats of prosecution.

Carlson revealed that she once had a crush on Tucker and she was told by a friend that the Fox man was going to be at Harper’s Restaurant, a burger and pizza joint in Louisville. She went there to meet him but things happened and she fell in the restaurant, hitting her head. She was later woken up by people and she explained to her attorney, Paul Blanton, that she might have been molested in the restaurant and that was why he wrote to Carlson.

The woman later realized that she was not molested and she wrote to Carlson to apologize for all that happened, believing that her attorney only wrote to him in an attempt to make a name for himself. More so, Carlson was never at the restaurant and while he did not make any statement about the incident, he made reference to it in his autobiography;  Politicians, Partisans, and Parasites.

That was not the only difficult time that they had as a couple. In 2018, Susan’s home was attacked by protesters who according to her husband, threatened the family. Tucker revealed that the people made an attempt to break into their home and as far as he was concerned, they were not protesters. He claimed that they made threats to him and his family to leave the neighborhood, even though it was in the city that he grew up in.

Through these separate ordeals, she stood right beside her husband.
