However, in another interview with the Hollywood Reporter Miller said that he did not exactly identify with the term “queer” as he felt it was somewhat generalized. In a 2018 cover story with QG, he said that he was very comfortable being addressed with all the pronouns.
Although publicly declaring his sexuality came with its downside and made people tag him as a social outcast, Miller revealed that it was one of the best things to happen to him as it allowed him to find his true personality and separate himself from the crowd, and also allowed him to identify with people who were also queer like him.
